History of Incidents
Since the start of the extensive conflict in Ukraine, a number of Russian military personnel have been attacked within Moscow.
This latest event follows other high-profile incidents, for instance:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was died in a car bomb attack in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov was killed in late 2024 when a device hidden on a scooter was triggered from afar.
While a Ukrainian source earlier linked Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such allegations are rarely officially confirmed as a matter of policy.
The conflict has increasingly seen covert operations reaching into the center of the Russian capital.
The examination into General Sarvarov's death remains active.
