US performer Pat Finn, who was seen in popular television series like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, per news outlets.

"He saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a message.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

A Notable TV Career

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of hit series, like:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies encompass "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.

"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared publicly.

Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
