Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for committing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
