Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades After Leading Derogatory Songs About Coach Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with Sheffield United just seven months after leading insulting songs aimed at their manager, Wilder.

This experienced striker, without a club since leaving Leeds United, has agreed to a deal with the Championship strugglers through the winter. Bamford's lengthy career with Leeds finished through agreement this past summer.

Among the player's final notable acts as a Leeds player included starting offensive chants about Chris Wilder amid Leeds' success festivities this spring. Now, the one-cap England international will be playing under Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to rescue the team he loves out of the drop zone.

Previous Conflict Between Bamford & Wilder

The pair had previous conflict before Leeds earned promotion to the Premier League last season and United lost the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder called Bamford as “a muppet” when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won direct promotion whereas Leeds missed out in the playoffs.

Making Amends and Looking Ahead

All seems to have been put behind them with United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, urgently requiring of improvement in attack while Bamford hoping to rejuvenate his playing days.

The song about Wilder went viral in April. An apologetic Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Chris Wilder commented at the time: “Spoke with Patrick recently and I have no issue at all with it. I'm uncertain about the language from a fellow professional! But I valued and admired him calling me.

“We spent 20 minutes and the same again I spoke to Daniel Farke too and had a longer discussion together and he's a super guy, a top guy. When I was playing we would dish it out and take it and that’s part and parcel of the game across all levels, including a Sunday morning. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with the situation and I told him that to Patrick.”

Latest Career Challenges

The forward made 18 games for Leeds in the previous campaign however the ex- Forest, Chelsea & Boro player has faced difficulties with fitness issues in recent years.
