The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest Far Cry title that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for celebrating chaos and mayhem with similar glee, all while presenting captivating, socially charged narratives. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two producers whose creations have embodied all of those elements.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' style by having a fresh backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their constant trust and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the essence of society through this intricate and unpredictable perspective, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our common irreverent, daring approach to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
