Trump Business Sought to Bring In Almost 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

The former president’s corporate entity increased its hiring of overseas employees on temporary visas this year, even as his administration was creating barriers for other businesses wanting to do the same, a report released recently claimed.

According to data from the US Department of Labor, the Trump Organization aimed to hire at least nearly 200 foreign workers in 2025 for short-term roles at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his Virginia winery.

The quantity of applications for temporary work visas covering workers including servers, clerks, housekeepers, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the highest ever filed by the organization, and up from 121 in the previous term, when his presidency ended.

It was also the fifth instance in a decade that Trump had sought to hire more than 100 overseas workers for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The disclosure coincides with a crackdown on legal immigration by his government that has included the implementation of a $100,000 fee on H1-B visas; increased review of the actions of the millions of people who already hold American work permits; and tighter regulations for international scholars and reporters.

Overall, the Trump Organization sought to employ over 560 overseas workers over the five years Trump has been in the White House, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Notably, the former president was criticized by certain in the GOP this period for remarks defending the need for foreign workers when a company was unable to find people with “particular skills” to occupy certain positions.

“You can’t just say a nation is coming in, going to invest $10bn to build a plant, and going to recruit individuals off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start making their missiles. It doesn’t work that effectively,” he stated to a interviewer after it was implied that foreign workers lower the wages of American employees.

The administration refused a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an request for information.
